Narrative:
I had just finished my workout at the gym located one block from the mall. I wanted to make a purchase at the mall so i walked over with my gym bag. I was wearing sweat pants and my workout shirt and i wear a bandanna over my hair to keep my hair tucked in and neat so it doesn't go into my eyes during my workout.
A Female officer approached me and told me "You need to take of your bandanna" I asked why and she told me it is the mall policy. I told the female officer "Thats OK ill just leave". I turned around to walk to my car and a Male Asian officer jumped in front of my path, his face an inch away from my face and said to me "Did you here what the officer told you! She said to take it off!" I said to the male officer "id rather just leave excuse me" The officer jumped in my path again blocking my passage. He then said " I told you to take that bandanna off now!" After playing cat and mouse with the officer i was able to get around him barely without bumping into him. I feel assaulted and that my rights have been violated. I could never imagine that in America i could be assaulted or illegally detained for my choice in gym attire.
The Asian officer continued to follow me all the way to my vehicle verbally assaulting me. Some of the officers comments where "when an officer tells you to do something you better do it" If your so tough why are you walking away?" "Im standing right here, you want some?" Then he continued to follow me, intimidating me al the way to my car.
